Cancer Biomarkers in Body Fluids
Cancer biomarkers are substances in the body that can indicate an individual has cancer or is at risk of developing cancer. These biomarkers are typically found in body fluids, such as blood and urine, but can also be detected in saliva, sweat, and other excretions. They are used to diagnose and monitor a variety of cancers and can help to detect cancer at an early stage, when there is still a chance for successful treatment. Cancer biomarkers can also help to identify people who may be at high risk for developing cancer, and provide important information that can be used to tailor treatments to the individual. Furthermore, they can be used to monitor the effectiveness of cancer treatments and to detect recurrence of cancer.
