Body Fluid Imbalance
A body fluid imbalance occurs when the body’s fluids—such as blood, plasma, and interstitial fluid—are out of proportion or not balanced correctly. It can be caused by many things, including dehydration, too much sodium, or not enough electrolytes. The consequences of a body fluid imbalance can be serious and potentially life-threatening, leading to an electrolyte disorder, kidney stones, or changes in blood pressure. There are many treatments available to correct the imbalance, including restoring lost fluids and electrolytes, managing and monitoring dietary changes, and medications. It is important to treat body fluid imbalances quickly and effectively to avoid long-term health complications.
