Systolic Hypertension
Systolic hypertension is a form of high blood pressure in which the systolic pressure (the top number in a blood pressure reading) is consistently high. Systolic hypertension can put one at risk for developing heart disease and stroke, as well as other health complications. Treatment of systolic hypertension typically includes lifestyle modifications and medications to help lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease, and avoid stroke and other complications. Regular monitoring by a health care provider is necessary to help ensure effective management of systolic hypertension.
