Hypertensive Emergency

Hypertensive emergency is a medical condition when a patient’s blood pressure is severely elevated, usually greater than 180/120 mmHg. It is a very serious and potentially fatal medical condition that can cause damage to the heart, kidneys and brain if left untreated. Hypertension emergency also increases the risk of developing stroke, heart attack and other cardiovascular diseases. Hypertensive emergency can be managed through timely and adequate medical treatment, which may include the use of medications, lifestyle modifications and other clinical interventions. Early recognition and management of Hypertensive emergency is essential in order to reduce the risk of severe medical complications.
