It is also called 'Syndrome X' and is caused by a combination of metabolic risk factors such as high blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist and abnormal cholesterol levels. It is a major health concern due to its prevalence and link to the development of major cardiovascular events and other chronic illnesses. Treatment can involve various lifestyle modifications such as diet and exercise, as well as pharmacological interventions, to reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and other metabolic diseases.
