Toxicology

Toxicology is the scientific study of the adverse effects of chemical, physical and biological agents on people, animals, or the environment. It encompasses the investigation of the mechanisms of toxicity, the sources of exposure, and the assessment of potential health risks posed by hazardous substances. Toxicology also plays a vital role in the development of new drugs and treatments, ensuring that new medications are safe for use and don’t cause any unexpected side effects. Additionally, toxicology research is used to set safety standards and regulations for the use of chemicals and other potentially hazardous materials, such as asbestos, lead and chemicals used in consumer products. Toxicology is an important area of science and research, helping to identify the causes and effects of harmful substances on human health, the environment and the world at large.
