Molecular Diagnostics
Molecular diagnostics is a type of medical testing which uses molecular technologies to detect genetic differences in a person's cells. It is used to diagnose, monitor, and treat cancer, infectious diseases, and other genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis. It involves techniques such as PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and DNA sequencing to accurately detect mutations and abnormalities that can be associated with genetic conditions and diseases. By utilizing these tests, clinicians can more accurately and efficiently diagnose, manage and treat patients with complex diseases. Molecular diagnostics can also be used to ensure that a person has taken the necessary preventive measures to avoid or lower their risk of developing certain diseases. As a result, it is an important tool for improving healthcare outcomes and increasing patient safety.
