Biogeography

Biogeography is the science of studying the geographical distribution of living organisms on Earth. It studies the patterns of their occurrence and dispersal across the planet and the processes that influence this distribution. It is a field of research that looks at the environmental factors that determine the presence or absence of species, their abundance and community composition in different areas. Biogeography is important because it helps us to understand the complexity of species distribution and in turn, can be used to determine conservation decisions, create better management strategies, promote sustainable development and inform climate change preparedness.
