Biocompatibility
Biocompatibility is the ability of materials to not produce a detrimental biological response when in contact with biological systems, such as living tissue. Biocompatibility is essential for the safe integration of materials into the human body, and the field of study is rapidly growing as technology advances. It is of great importance in the medical field, where materials are used to make prosthetic devices, implants, and medical instruments, as well as applications in the cosmetics industry, where these materials are used to make make-up, skin care products, and other facial products. Biocompatibility also has its uses in industrial, agricultural, and environmental settings, where the biocompatibility of a material can be used to assess the safety and effectiveness of a product.
