Biography:
- Immacolata Castellano obtained her degree in Biology in 2001, and the PhD in Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2007.
- She is currently engaged as Researcher in the field of Marine Biochemistry at Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn of Naples.
- She is Member of the Italian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology since 2008.
- Her research interests focus mainly on the study of molecular mechanisms regulating fundamental biological processes in marine organisms and their adaption to different environmental factors.
- In particular, she has focused her attention on the study of structure, function and evolution of enzymes involved in redox homeostasis and detoxification, and on redox sensitive signal transduction pathways thereof.
- Recently, her research interests have been focused also on the characterization of biological properties of bioactive molecules from marine organisms.
