Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic condition in which the body's cells become resistant to the hormone insulin, resulting in high blood glucose levels. It is a major cause of blindness, kidney disease, heart disease, stroke and other health problems. T2DM can be managed with lifestyle measures such as healthy eating, physical activity and weight control, as well as medication and insulin injections. Optimizing lifestyle habits can improve health outcomes and reduce the risk of complications associated with T2DM. Early diagnosis and treatment of T2DM is key to preventing long-term health complications.
