Hypertension
Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is a condition in which the pressure of blood within the vessels is abnormally high, putting strain on the walls of the blood vessels and the heart. Hypertension has significant adverse effects on the body and is a leading cause of heart attacks, strokes, and kidney failure. As such, it is essential to monitor and manage hypertension, through lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise and reducing stress, as well as through medications depending on the severity of the condition.
