Diabetology
Diabetology is the branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and therapy of diabetes. Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder, in which the body either fails to produce enough insulin, or is unable to properly process it, leading to high levels of glucose in the blood. If not properly managed, this can lead to potentially serious complications, including permanent nerve and vision damage, kidney failure, and even death. Diabetologists specialize in managing the disease, providing patients with individualized treatment plans to help them stay healthy and minimize the risk of complications. Diabetology is significant in improving clinical therapies and managing care of diabetes, helping to reduce the mortality rate and impact of the disease on patients.
