Diabetes and Pregnancy
Diabetes and pregnancy can be a daunting combination for women. Diabetes during pregnancy can lead to a range of risks for both the mother and baby, including pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes and macrosomia (large baby). It is therefore important that women with diabetes plan their pregnancy and work closely with their healthcare team to ensure appropriate prenatal care. Good diabetes management before and during pregnancy can reduce the risks to mother and baby, and can result in a healthy pregnancy and newborn. Women with diabetes can have a successful pregnancy and delivery with careful planning, monitoring, and medical care.
