Cancer Metabolomics
Cancer Metabolomics is an emerging field of study of biochemical changes in cells and tissues associated with cancer. It involves the analysis of metabolites, which are molecules formed during metabolic processes in the body, to identify patterns in cancer cells or tumors and to provide insight into their biology. By studying the effects of these metabolites on the signalling pathways, cell behaviour, and other biochemical processes, researchers can better understand how cancer arises and progresses. Metabolomics can be used to investigate the mechanisms of drug resistance, to identify biomarkers reflecting tumour heterogeneity, and to develop more effective treatments. In addition, this field of research may uncover novel pathways of cancer progression and new therapeutic targets.
