Metadata

Metadata is data about data. It is structured information that describes, explains, locates, or otherwise makes it easier to retrieve, use, and manage an organization’s data assets. Metadata enables efficient information storage, retrieval, and management. It is important for businesses and other organizations because it helps them to make the most of their data, improve the accuracy of their data, and increase the efficiency of data-driven processes. Metadata also helps improve the SEO ranking of webpages by providing accurate information about a page's content and keywords that can be used by search engines to better index and rank that page.
