Military Psychiatry
Military Psychiatry is a branch of mental health care focused on providing mental health treatment and support to members of the Armed Services and their families. It seeks to recognize, prevent, and properly treat mental health conditions. This includes but is not limited to PTSD, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and traumatic brain injury. The aim is to not only support the physical health of a military service member, but to also ensure their mental health for both their own well-being and the safety of their fellow troops. The importance of military psychiatry lies in providing the care needed for service members and their families to thrive both during and after service.
