Biological Psychiatry
Biological psychiatry is a field of psychiatry that focuses on the physical, biological, and genetic aspects of mental health and mental illness. It uses the scientific approaches of psychology, neuroscience, genetics, pharmacology, and physiology to research the brain and behavior. Biological psychiatry is based on scientific studies that seek to understand the biological processes that underlie mental illnesses, including schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. It is a rapidly growing field that has the potential to lead to improved treatments for mental illnesses through the development of new medications, psychotherapies, and other treatments based on a better understanding of their underlying biological processes.
