Assault
Weapon An assault weapon is a firearm designed with the intent to cause maximum bodily harm in a short amount of time. It is an umbrella term for a range of weapons, typically semi-automatic firearms, that are designed for use in close-quarters combat and feature a large capacity magazine and a rapid rate of fire. Assault weapons are controversial as they are commonly associated with mass casualty events and are banned in many countries and states. Despite this, they are often used by police forces, the military, and other groups for tactical operations.
