Applied Anthropology

Applied Anthropology is a field of study that uses an anthropological perspective to address real-world social, cultural, organizational and environmental issues. Applied Anthropologists employ a range of methods to address complex problems, ranging from qualitative techniques such as participant observation and in-depth interviews to quantitative techniques such as surveys and statistical analysis. This allows them to better understand the dynamics of the societies in which they are studying, and to develop and implement solutions that are locally appropriate and sensitive to cultural context. Applied Anthropology is used to address issues relating to sustainable development, health and safety, social justice, human rights, resource management, and policy development. It is an invaluable tool for understanding the relationships between people and cultures, as well as for working towards creating meaningful and lasting social change.
