Rheumatoid Factor
Rheumatoid factor (RF) is a blood test commonly used to help diagnose rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation and joint damage. RF is an antibody created by the body that attacks normal healthy tissues in the body, which can lead to joint swelling, stiffness, and pain. This test can help doctors differentiate between rheumatoid arthritis and other types of arthritis. A positive RF result can help confirm a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, although other tests may also need to be done.
