Relapsing Polychondritis
Relapsing Polychondritis is a rare autoimmune disorder characterised by recurrent episodes of inflammation and destruction of cartilage and other connective tissues. Symptoms include pain and swelling in the affected areas, joint stiffness, respiratory difficulties, and hearing loss. This condition can significantly impair an individual's quality of life, as affected tissues can become deformed or suffer irreversible damage. Treatment options generally involve using steroids and other immunosuppressive therapies to reduce the inflammation. Early diagnosis and treatment are vital in managing the disease, thus improving a patient's long-term prognosis.
