Osteoporosis and Geriatrics

Osteoporosis is a medical condition in which bones become brittle and fragile due to reduced bone density and increased risk of fractures. It is particularly common in people over the age of 65, referred to as geriatrics, hence the term ‘osteoporosis and geriatrics’. Osteoporosis can lead to increased risk of falls and fractures, and can also cause severe pain and disability. Therefore, osteoporosis and geriatrics is an important field of research, especially for those of advancing age and at risk of osteoporosis. There are a variety of treatments available, including lifestyle and dietary changes, exercise, and medications that can help reduce the risk and severity of osteoporosis in those affected. It is important to recognize the significance of this condition, and to research the best possible methods of prevention, diagnosis and treatment for those at risk.
