Osteomyelitis
Osteomyelitis is an infection of the bone, which is usually caused by bacteria or fungi. It is most common in the long bones of the body, such as the thigh bone or shin bone, but can also develop in the vertebrae of the spine. Symptoms of osteomyelitis include pain, swelling, tenderness, fever, and redness of the skin over the affected bone. Treatment for osteomyelitis typically involves antibiotics, surgery to remove the infected bone, and physical therapy. Osteomyelitis is a serious condition that can lead to complications such as sepsis, bone destruction, and joint damage if not properly treated. Therefore, it is important to recognize the symptoms and seek prompt medical attention.
