Osteocartilaginous Exostosis

Osteocartilaginous exostosis, also known as osteochondroma, is a bone tumor that occurs most often in children and young adults. It is made of both bone and cartilage, and usually appears as a bump on the neck, upper arm, or lower leg. Osteochondromas usually cause no symptoms, but can cause pain or discomfort if they get in the way of nearby nerves and muscles. Surgery may be necessary to remove the tumor if it is causing pain. Osteocartilaginous exostosis can also increase the risk of developing bone cancer, making it important to diagnose and monitor it closely.
