Orthopedic Oncology

Orthopedic Oncology is a branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of cancerous and/or benign tumors of the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic Oncologists use a variety of treatments to manage orthopedic tumors including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. These treatments aim to remove the tumor, stabilize the affected area, and restore function. In some cases, orthopedic oncologists may specialize in limb-sparing or limb-reconstructive surgeries, which are done to save a limb while still providing successful cancer treatment. Orthopedic Oncology is important in providing a full range of cancer treatment options for individuals with musculoskeletal tumors.
