Enchondroma
An enchondroma is a benign tumor that usually develops in the bones of the hands and feet. It is made up of cartilage and can cause pain, swelling, and deformity in parts of the bones. An enchondroma is typically discovered during routine X-rays or scans. Treatment usually includes surgery to remove the tumor and is successful in most cases. An enchondroma can become cancerous if left untreated, so early diagnosis is important in minimizing the risk of progression to cancer. Proper diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care are important for successfully managing an enchondroma.
