Arthrocentesis
Arthrocentesis (also known as joint aspiration or joint injection) is a medical procedure used to diagnose and/or treat joint pain and inflammation. It involves draining fluid from a joint, typically with a needle, and analyzing it to detect any abnormality. The procedure is commonly used to diagnose arthritis, gout, bursitis, and other joint diseases. Arthrocentesis can also be used to inject medications directly into the joint, such as corticosteroids, anesthetics, and Hyaluronic acid, to help reduce pain and inflammation. The procedure is considered to be a safe and effective way to diagnose and treat joint problems.
