Chemoprevention

Chemoprevention is the use of certain natural or synthetic chemicals to prevent, delay or reduce the risk of developing cancer and other diseases. Through various mechanisms, these chemicals may block, reverse or interfere with the development of cancer or other diseases, or even prevent them from developing in the first place. Chemoprevention can be an effective way to reduce the risk of cancer and other chronic illnesses, and is sometimes used in conjunction with other preventive and therapeutic strategies. Chemopreventive agents are found in many foods, such as certain vegetables, fruits, tea, and spices. They can also be taken in supplement form. Chemoprevention is a promising field of research with the potential to save lives.
