Antioxidant Supplementation
Antioxidant supplementation involves taking dietary supplements containing certain antioxidants. Antioxidants are molecules that help protect cells and tissues against the damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS). These molecules are produced naturally during normal metabolism, but too many can damage cells leading to aging, as well as chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s. Supplementation may help to offset the damage caused by ROS, maintaining and improving overall health. Additionally, antioxidant supplements may help to reduce inflammation, improve immune system function, and protect against oxidative stress.
