Pathophysiology
Pathophysiology is the scientific study of the nature of abnormalities in the body's physical and biochemical functions and the effects of these abnormalities on the body’s health. It involves understanding the numerous processes of homeostasis and how disease disrupts these processes to cause harm or death. It is an essential component of medicine, as it applies to diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics. Pathophysiology is important in the treatment and prevention of a variety of diseases, as well as in the development of new research and treatments in the medical field.
