Neuropathology
Neuropathology is an area of medical science that studies diseases of the central nervous system (CNS), including the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. The specialty is important in understanding the causes and progression of CNS diseases, as well as enabling early detection and effective treatments. Common neuropathology techniques include histopathological analysis of tissues from the CNS and molecular analysis to identify specific abnormalities. Neuropathologists also help to diagnose neurological diseases and conditions by examining biopsied tissues and performing autopsies.
