Gene Therapy
Gene therapy is a rapidly growing field of medicine that uses genetic engineering techniques to modify or repair genes involved in a disease. It works by introducing a corrective copy of a gene into cells to replace a defective version of the gene. This can help restore proper function to a person’s genetic make-up, potentially treating or curing diseases caused by genetic disorders. Through gene therapy, medical specialists can introduce new healthy genes into cells to combat a wide range of diseases, including some forms of cancer, cystic fibrosis, and genetic blindness.
