Apraxia

Apraxia is a neurological disorder which affects one's ability to plan and execute physical tasks, even when the necessary muscles are functioning normally. It is associated with damage to the parts of the brain used for motor planning and can be seen in both adults and children. People with Apraxia may have difficulty performing basic tasks such as picking up an object from a table, brushing their hair, or putting on clothing. While there is no cure for Apraxia, treatments such as speech, physical, occupational, and cognitive therapies can help to improve a person's ability to perform daily activities. With the right support, individuals with Apraxia can learn to compensate for their difficulties and lead an active and fulfilling life.
