Fatty Alcohols

Fatty alcohols are a type of alcohol derived from fatty acids. They are generally used as surfactants, emulsifiers, and humectants in a wide range of personal care, industrial, and food products. They are also used in plastics and textiles as a lubricant to reduce wear and as a fuel additive. Fatty alcohols are colorless, insoluble in water, and have a high boiling point. They are naturally occurring in animals and plants, and can also be synthesized from plant oils and animal fats. They are generally considered nontoxic and serve as natural preservatives and emulsifiers.
