Benzyl Alcohols

Benzyl alcohols are chemical compounds with a hydroxy group on the benzyl carbon. They are used as solvents and preservatives, and feature a pleasant smell. They are important to many industries, including cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, due to their stability and low toxicity. Benzyl alcohols can also be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds and some are used in food flavoring. Their low freezing point and low vapor pressure make them useful as carriers for various medical and industrial applications. In addition, they are used in the production of a variety of chemicals, including fragrances and detergents.
