Alcohols
Alcohols are organic compounds composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms, with one or more hydroxyl group (-OH) attached to the same carbon atom. They are among the most versatile organic compounds, and are found in a variety of everyday products such as beverages, medicines, fuels, and cosmetics. Alcohols have a wide range of uses, including as solvents, antiseptics, preservatives, and fuel additives. The properties of alcohols are dependent on their molecular structure, with each type exhibiting different characteristics. Some of the more common types of alcohols are ethanol, methanol, and isopropanol.
