Alcoholism Statistics

Alcoholism is an addiction to alcohol that can have long-term, adverse physical and psychological effects on a person. It is estimated that there are almost 14 million people in the United States currently diagnosed with alcoholism. Additionally, it is estimated that more than 6 million people in the United States are considered “risky drinkers”, meaning they are at risk of developing alcohol use disorder. Alcoholism statistics demonstrate how widespread alcohol use disorder is in the US, and the importance of seeking help for those who are suffering from the disorder. With proper treatment, alcoholism can be managed and those affected can go on to lead a healthy and happy life.
