Alcoholics
Anonymous Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a global fellowship of people who support each other in abstaining from alcohol. The programme is based on a 12-step approach to recovery and provides mutual support, encouragement, understanding and hope to its members. AA meetings aim to provide a safe and supportive environment, enabling members to share their experiences, discuss difficulties and learn solutions to their problems together. AA's approach is based on research that has identified the importance of peer support in recovery from alcohol dependence. As such, it is an effective and evidence-based approach to helping individuals abstain from alcohol and achieve long-term recovery.
