Tubercle Bacillus

The Tubercle Bacillus is a type of bacterium which is known to cause the disease of tuberculosis (TB). It is a Gram-positive rod-shaped bacterium, about two micrometers long. Tuberculosis is a contagious and potentially fatal infection that affects humans and other animals, although not all people who are infected with this bacteria will develop the disease. Early diagnosis and treatment of TB with antibiotics can prevent further spread of the disease. The Tubercle Bacillus is essential in the diagnosis of TB, as it can be identified through laboratory tests. This bacterium can also be used as an immunizing agent against TB, which is essential for the prevention of this illness.
