Foodborne Diseases
Foodborne diseases are illnesses caused by eating contaminated food. These diseases can have serious health consequences, including long-term disability and even death. The most common causes of foodborne illness are bacteria, viruses, and parasites, which can be present in foods due to inadequate cooking, improper handling, cross-contamination, and other sources. In order to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses, it is important to follow food safety guidelines such as washing hands and surfaces, cooking food to the right temperature, and avoiding cross-contamination of raw and cooked foods. People of all ages are potentially at risk of foodborne illnesses, which is why it is important to be familiar with proper food safety practices.
