Fluorosis
Fluorosis is a condition where a person ingests too much fluoride, often from drinking too much fluoridated water. It is a serious health problem, as too much fluoride can lead to damage in the bones and teeth. Symptoms of fluorosis may include discoloration of the teeth, white spots, and an increased risk of cavities. Over time, it can even cause deformities in the bones and joints. Treatment for fluorosis is limited to preventing further fluoride exposure and proper oral care. Preventative measures, such as using a water filter, consuming tea and coffee without fluoride, and avoiding foods containing fluoride, should be taken to reduce the risk of developing fluorosis.
