Desalination

Desalination is the process of removing salts and other minerals from seawater, turning it into fresh, drinkable water. It is an important process, as it offers an alternative to traditional freshwater sources, which are becoming increasingly scarce. Desalination is used in many parts of the world to address water scarcity, with an estimated 15,000 desalination plants operating around the world. In addition, desalination is being used to help revive degraded watersheds and to reduce the impact of discharges from wastewater treatment plants. It is also being used as a supplement for drinking water in areas with limited access to freshwater sources. Desalination is a powerful tool for alleviating the water crisis in many parts of the world.
