Cryptosporidium
Cryptosporidium is a type of protozoan parasite that lives in the intestines of humans and animals. It is a leading cause of diarrheal illness worldwide, causing symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain and dehydration. Cryptosporidium is spread through contact with contaminated stool and water, as well as through food and contact with infected animals. Treatment can involve antibiotics, antidiarrheal drugs and fluids to replace lost electrolytes. Cryptosporidium is a major concern in public health, especially in areas with limited access to clean water and sanitation. The recognition and prevention of Cryptosporidium is essential in order to protect the public health.
