Plant Taxonomy
Plant taxonomy is the science of classifying plants. It is the scientific process of determining the relationships between living things, and arranging them into a hierarchical system of categories through the use of shared characteristics. Plant taxonomy is essential to understanding the natural world, as it allows scientists to accurately identify species, monitor their health, predict how they may respond to climate change, and conserve them. Plant taxonomy is also used for crop development and horticulture, providing information about the different types of plants and their properties. This enables researchers to develop new crop varieties which are more productive, more resistant to pests and diseases, and more suitable for local climate conditions.
