Plant Stress Biology
Plant stress biology is the science of understanding how plants respond to stressors in their environment, such as drought, temperature extremes, pest infestations, and nutrient deficiencies. It has become important in modern agriculture due to the need for farmers to more successfully manage their crops' health and productivity in a changing climate. Research in this area has shown that plants can be bred and selected for their ability to more efficiently cope with environmental stressors. Additionally, new technologies are being developed to better understand and measure plant stress, with the aim of helping farmers develop more resilient and productive crops. Plant stress biology is thus an essential field for improving agricultural productivity and for adapting crops to a changing climate.
