Plant Proteins
Plant proteins are proteins found in plants such as grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. They are a source of essential amino acids needed for many bodily functions. Plant proteins are being studied and used to supplement diets of those with inadequate intake of proteins and amino acids, especially in developing countries. Plant proteins are known to provide improved vascular health, healthy bones, lowered cholesterol, and improved weight management. Plant proteins are also used as food ingredients, especially in vegan and vegetarian diets, and are being researched further as a potential way to improve human health.
