Plant Physiology
Plant physiology is the scientific study of how plants work and how they interact with their environment. It covers a wide range of topics, from individual molecules and pathways to whole plant systems. Plant physiology is an essential field of research for understanding the biology of plants and how to increase crop yields. This is especially important for developing sustainable agriculture, given that over 70% of our food is produced through plant-based agriculture. Plant physiology also has applications in applied fields such as biotechnology, genetic engineering, and food production. By studying plants, scientists can develop methods to increase their resistance to pests and diseases, as well as improve their nutrient content. Understanding the physiology of plants can also provide insight into ecosystems and how they interact with the environment.
