Plant Pathology
Plant pathology is the study of diseases which affect plants caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi and other organisms. Plant pathology is significant in many areas of science and technology, from controlling crop diseases in order to improve agricultural yields, to the use of fungi in bioremediation to help clean up pollution. Plant pathology also plays an important role in the development of new plant-based products such as food and medicinal products, as well as improving the safety and durability of crops. Plant pathology is also used in the field of forensics to determine the cause of crop loss and to monitor the spread of plant diseases.
