Plant Pathogens
Plant pathogens are organisms that cause diseases in plants. Common plant pathogens include bacteria, fungi, viruses, oomycetes, and nematodes. Plant pathogens can cause significant economic losses in agriculture and horticulture by reducing crop yield and quality. In addition, some plant pathogens can serve as bio-control agents for invasive or potentially harmful weeds or insects. Plant pathogens are important to understand as they can help inform crop management decisions and develop innovative strategies to manage disease.
